Vestige
This tall slender ceramic vessel is watertight and could have several uses. It combines throwing and hand building techniques, with a salvaged rusted copper artifact used as a lid to add to its aged patina. The weathered surface suggests ancient stone that has been excavated with a story to tell. It incorporates ancient wild clay from the Cotswolds. The idea of this object is that it carries a trace or remnant of something that once existed. It has memory, a legacy and is what remains after a life or an era has passed. I enjoy making pieces that mark journeys, transitions and the passage of time. A vessel that can hold flowers in one chapter and in another, much later, become a vessel of remembrance.
