Timeworn rounded vessel
This ceramic vessel is watertight and can be used as a vase. It started on the wheel as a thrown black vessel and has had multiple layers added to it over a period of time to add texture, cracks and the impression of aged stone. This is in a series of works that I am currently studying around aged wood and stones. All glazes are mixed from scratch and each piece has its own individual shape. No two pieces are alike and each piece takes several weeks from start to finish to achieve the build up of age. I placed this vessel on a natural stone floor to photograph it and was thrilled with how the two blended well together.
