Small Porcelain Nest

This porcelain nest has undergone many layers of transition. It started life as a woven textile nest and was then covered in multiple layers of porcelain slip over a period of a couple of weeks. It was then fired to give it strength and then glazed with two different glazes leaving some parts of the external nest unglazed. It retains some of the texture of the textile nest but is pure porcelain now that the fabric has burnt away in the kiln. The nest is a usable bowl, suited to holding jewellery and smaller items.
