Shallow Pond

£495.00

This shallow Porcelain bowl was thrown on the wheel and texture added during multiple firings. This recently made bowl is the last in this pondlife series this season, with a focus on the foliage in the pond, which has become overgrown as the water line has dropped with the heat and the plants have overtaken the wildlife. This is reflected in this piece where I’ve chosen more colour than normal, wanting to emphasise the plant life and silty bottom which gets churned up with the motion of wild swimming, and the evaporation of water during these hot months which reduces the water line and makes the pond less deep. I have still incorporated frogspawn and tadpoles (they have lingered for months before turning into frogs) but this is the only piece that really reflects multiple elements in the water. It is a usable piece of art.
