Porcelain Freshwater Mussel Shells
During a walk in the spectacular private gardens of Sezincote House close to where I live in the Cotswolds, (open to the public on certain days of the year), I came across something I’d never seen before - a giant freshwater mussel shell along the bank of a stream. I asked permission to take it home and then used is as a model for making these shells. They are perfect as condiment bowls for salt and pepper or for anything you like! I have only made a few but they would be great by the seaside or in seafood restaurants for starters of condiments…. They are made using 3 clays and 2 glazes, surprisingly complex to make something simple looking!
13cm long x 8cm wide
