Giant Porcinis in a vintage basket - set of 9
These giant ceramic Porcini mushrooms are also known as Penny Buns and Cep Mushrooms and they look spectacular in this huge beautiful antique basket. I had a sizeable commission for these mushrooms in Paris (all of which have sold) and made some extra ones to keep in the UK as a centrepiece. I can see them on a large butchers block but you could have them anywhere! In order to achieve a realistic finish I've been blending underglazes and oxides rather than using a traditional dipped or painted finish. I've also had to play around with textures for their undersides which are unlike a standard gill. They are hollow inside and made using a porcelain stem and underside and a brown clay for the cap. No two are alike as I make them all slightly different shapes and some are more ‘eaten’ or ‘damaged’ by wildlife than others as you would find them in nature.
Basket is 55cm long x 47cm across x 37cm high.
