Giant Porcini Mushroom
These Porcini mushrooms are also know as Penny Buns and Cep Mushrooms in different parts of the world. In order to achieve a realistic finish I've been blending underglazes and oxides rather than using a traditional dipped or painted finish. I've also had to play around with textures for their undersides which are unlike a standard gill. They are made using a porcelain stem and underside and a brown clay for the cap. I make them in different sizes but I have just made two giant ones.
They are roughly 14cm x 14cm
