Dumpy Carved Teapot 3
This white clay teapot was thrown on the wheel and carved into when leather hard before the first firing. It has a simple matt white glaze applied inside and out and complements the carved mugs and caddies.
These are made using a fun method where you throw a vase shape with a thin neck and when the clay hardens sufficiently, you tip it to one side and create a flat surface on one of the sides of the vase, so the rim becomes the pouring spout. You then cut a hole for the lid into the side and add a handle. It pours well and holds 2 decent cups of tea or 1 1/2 large mugs!
13cm high x 13cm diameter body plus handle and spout
