This wild clay bowl was made under the full moon in July 2026, namely the Buck Moon. I go into my studio when the moon is full each month, to connect with the power of the lunar cycle and try and capture this into my work. The bowls have been used for ceremonies and I believe they have a special quality being made at this time. I decorated this bowl by mark making using a naturally cast (shed) antler found in the garden near my studio which seemed appropriate. The clay used for this bowl was from the Cotswold land - wild and wonderful. The inside of this bowl was glazed with ash from the fire to create an ash glaze so this is a very beautiful and natural piece of work in harmony with the strong pull of the moon and natures materials. The Buck Moon is named so as July is when the male deer are growing their new antlers and is associated with growth, renewal, strength and transformation.
