Adversity bowl with Kintsugi
This thrown white bowl has been deliberately ripped and torn apart at its rim to create a vulnerable and highly interesting form. The weakened rim cracked whilst in the kiln which all adds to its challenged character and has been mended using 18 carat gold powder by the kintsugi method. I think it is a lovely example of coping in adverse conditions and I think we are all more interesting as a result of life’s hardships. If this bowl can give you strength on a tough day then it will be doing its job!
